Total Transit Time for Perishable Shipments
How do you calculate total transit time hours for your perishable shipments?
This is often calculated differently by LSPs/TSPs (logistics/transport service providers) and shippers.
Normally the LSP will "start the clock" when the shipment is picked up, however this calculation might be wrong and the available validated transit time is actually shorter than expected. Often when the shipment is picked up, it has already been packed in its validated transport container for a few hours or even was finalized the day before pick up. Shippers will generally document the pack out time (or when the box was closed) and this would be the correct time to "start the clock".
