Temp Controlled Shipments

Are you using the correct labels for your dry ice and lithium battery shipments?

New Class 9 (Dangerous Goods Label for Airfreight)

The new class 9 label is slightly different from the previous one (see below). Make sure that you are using the new label which is now required. Some carriers are no longer accepting shipments with old labels and your shipments might be delayed.

Dangerous Goods Label Airfreight

The old label on the left has expired. Use the new one on the right.

Lithium Battery Label

The old label is still valid until the end of 2018. Additionally there is a new label for UN 3091 (regulated temperature logger batteries) that is also being used. Keep in mind that a declaration is also needed on the AWB if the shipment is regulated.

Dangerous Goods Label Airfreight

The current label on the left is valid until end of 2018. UN3091 is also available.

Please contact Unitrans in case of questions.

Emirates Airlines Flight Cutbacks

Emirates Airlines has announced they will reduce frequencies on US routes from Dubai starting next month as a result of softening demand for passenger services. Unitrans expects further reductions in service to the US by other Middle Eastern carriers in the next month.

Shippers Must Declare Loads Are Road-legal

Effective May 7, 2017, and in what appears to be a partial extension of the verified gross mass (VGM) amendment of the Safety of Life at Sea regulations, next month a new law within the EU will force shippers to declare the weight of their cargo to haulers transporting goods within Europe. Additional details on the directive, from author Gavin van Marle, can be found in The Loadstar by clicking here.

The FDA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have implemented strict import requirements. Importers must provide precise information to make it through FDA's software screening program (PREDICT) and likewise, through U.S. Custom's ACE software program. Errors here can cost you long delays and fines. Click here for more information on a virtual training session discussing information and data requirements, the import hold and detention process and offering tips on how to manage in a changing, and more closely integrated environment.
