Southern California Drayage Drivers Picket Marine Terminals

Independent contractors in Southern California walked off the job early this morning, April 27. The protest arises from a disagreement of wages and job misclassification of the independent contractors. The Justice For Port Drivers group is attempting to organize the independent drivers to make them eligible for union membership. It is currently unknown how many of the harbor drivers will participate in the strike, but the strike is not expected to halt all port business. The independent contract drivers have targeted four companies - Pacific 9 Transportation, Intermodal Bridge Transport, Pacer Cartage and Harbor Rail Transport.

Unitrans International will continue to provide important information as this situation develops. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local Unitrans International representative.
